Adding Custom Fields

Almost every tool that is added to the tools library requires several fields that must be configured for the tool to function properly or are recommended by our integration team. In addition, you can add custom fields, according to what the third-party tool allows.

If we take Universal Google Analytics, for example, a default field would be your GA Property ID (the Google Analytics account ID), and an example for a custom field would be one of what are called Custom Dimensions (for example, Custom Dimension 1).

You can define custom fields in a way that will send them with every piece of data that's being sent to the tool, or only with specific events.

Add a custom field to all data

  1. On the Tool Settings page, click "add field" at the bottom of the page.
  2. Choose the desired field from the options on the dropdown list.
  3. Choose the variable that holds the value that you wish to pass.
  4. Click the "Add" button.

Add a custom field only to a specific event

  1. On the Tool Settings page, click the "events" tab at the top of the page.
  2. Choose the event you wish to add from the list of events on the left side of the page.
  3. Click the "add field" button on the tools configuration section at the bottom right side of the page.
  4. Choose the desired field from the options on the dropdown list.
  5. Choose the variable that holds the value that you wish to pass.
  6. Click the "Add" button.
